Dr. Amy Debelak
Principal


Dr. Amy Debelak has been part of Sycamore Community Schools since 2006. She became Principal of Montgomery Elementary in 2019 after serving four years as Assistant Principal. Before joining Sycamore, she taught in both private and public elementary schools in New Jersey. 
 
She holds a Bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University, a Master's degree from Xavier University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Cincinnati. 
 
Outside of school, Dr. Debelak enjoys spending time with her husband, Hilary, and their two children.

Ashley Friend
Assistant Principal

Ms. Friend returned to Cincinnati and Sycamore Community Schools in 2020 as a teacher at Maple Dale Elementary School. In 2025, she was selected as Assistant Principal of Montgomery Elementary. Ms. Friend brings a passion for fostering high levels of learning for all students and staff, along with a strong commitment to building meaningful partnerships with families to support student success.

Prior to Sycamore, Ms. Friend taught in Fairfax County Public Schools at a national model school. There, she also served as a coach for the district’s new teacher induction program and contributed to professional development through initiatives including Summer Literacy Symposium.

Ms. Friend holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University. Ms. Friend was honored as Sycamore’s Teacher of the Year in 2025.
