Raptor Background Checks for Volunteers & Field Trip Chaperones

To ensure the safety of Sycamore students, all volunteers or chaperones working directly with children without direct supervision of Sycamore staff are required to complete a Raptor background check. Background checks typically take around 72 hours to process and are completed through the Raptor website . There is no cost to families. Once completed, the Raptor background check is valid for one year.

How to Complete Your Background Check

1. Visit the Raptor website to begin your application.
2. Select the volunteer role(s) you plan to serve in. Options include:
   • Field trip chaperone
   • Classroom helper
   • Club advisor
   • Office helper
   • Library helper
   • Mentor
3. Complete and submit the volunteer application online.
4. Upon approval, you will receive an email with instructions for the next steps. Processing may take up to 72 hours.

Important: The information on your application must match your government-issued ID, including your full legal name.

All information collected is confidential and used solely for the volunteer program.
